I met my younger friend, Daniel, one month after he had received a bicycle (which he had not yet ridden) for his sixth birthday. He had no confidence, not even the power to push the pedals and he lacked social skills as his mother was concerned about his safety and never let him out to play with friends, he stayed in evenings and weekends and initially always complained that his mother had no time for him as she was always looking after his two year old brother. Our outings were his secret and for three months he never told his Mum where he had been or what he had done, (His Mum and I were in behind the scenes contact for his welfare and future) it was only after I had taken him to an Air Show that he became so excited that when he arrived home he blurted out the days events and since then he has told her everything we do and where we go. On our first three outings we went to St Nichols Park in Warwick and each time he held my hand and would not leave my side, he also refused to let me take his bike. On our fourth visit he ventured away from my side and after three months he allowed me to take his bike, five months later and after lots of complaining from him I removed his stabilisers, he now thinks he is the best cyclist in the world. He always looks forwards to our days out as we go ten pin bowling, stock car racing and visit the park for cycling, rides, crazy golf and paddling. I’m very lucky as l get to see all the latest movies with him, Toy Story 3, Gnomeo and Juliet and Tangled to name a few which are all in glorious 3D.
