We have given great consideration to the current position, and the trustees have reluctantly taken the decision that face to face contact should be suspended with immediate effect for at least the next twelve weeks.  We believe it’s critical to do our part to help reduce the transmission of COVID-19.

Though we are very conscious this will be a worrying time for our Younger Friends, we are encouraging our volunteers to keep in regular contact with them, using electronic means such as Facetime, Skype, email, or telephone. Volunteers will be able to talk to their younger friends about their worries and share their coping skills.

We will shortly be sending out our newsletter and looking at ways in which our volunteers can support their Younger Friends over the next few difficult months. We will update our funders, referrers and other supporters via our newsletter as to our actions.  We are continuing to recruit for the future, though will not be carrying out face to face meetings until government advice changes, so will not be able to complete the appointment/matching of new volunteers for the time being, though we are still very much seeking to expand to meet the need in Warwickshire.

Looking forward to when full service will be resumed.   Keep well and look after yourselves.

Kind Regards,

Cheryll Rawbone – Friendship Project Chairman
